Why Kindness Matters In Healthcare

Kindness in healthcare isn't just nice-- it's life changing! A study from the 70s proves that treating others with kindness can affect everything from your attitude to your cardiovascular health.

The Rabbit Effect

In the 1970s, scientists were studying how food affects the hearts of rabbits. They gave one group of rabbits lots of fatty food and observed them over a few months.

As expected, many of the rabbits got a lot of fat in their arteries. But here's the surprise: one group of rabbits had 60% less fat buildup, even though they all got the same food.

This confused the scientists. They wondered if something went wrong with the experiment. Were they missing something?

They looked closer and found that the rabbits with less fat buildup were taken care of by one particularly kind scientist. She didn't just give them food; she also talked to them, petted them, and showed them love.

This got the scientists thinking. Could the love and care from this scientist be making the rabbits healthier?

To find out, they did the experiment again, but this time they made sure everything was the same except for the care the rabbits got. And guess what? The rabbits that got extra love from the scientist stayed healthier.

So, what's the lesson from these rabbits? It's simple: being kind and caring to each other isn't just nice, it's good for our health too!
